Everything you need to know about laser hair removal before you start your treatment.
During laser hair removal, a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the tube-shaped sacs within the skin (hair follicles) that produce hairs. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.
Yes, The pulses of light energy used in laser hair removal treatments are only designed to heat and destroy hair follicles. As a professional laser hair-removal clinic, we will not perform any procedures without first assessing: your complete medical history, your current health condition, and any potential you may have for complications.
Laser hair removal is more effective than other hair removal treatments as it's precise, quicker and more predictable in result. It's virtually pain-free, more cost effective than waxing monthly, lasts longer, and the risk for ingrown hair is highly reduced. It is an investment that will last forever.
I have been a Certified laser hair removal professional for 20 years. I received my qualifications from Rachelle's School of Electrolysis & Beauty.
I use the Diode 808 machine. It is comfortable and painless with its cooling technology. With every laser a cool touch is brought to the skin so little pain is felt unlike other lasers. It is the most complete and effective hair removal machine available today.Incorporating multiple laser wavelengths and technologies, it not only allows practitioners to treat a wide range of hair types but also makes patients enjoy comfortable treatment process and effective clinical result.
We look at your skin tone and hair colour. Blonde and grey hair does not respond well to laser hair removal because of the lack of pigment in the hair. However, because of the advances in laser hair-removal technology, more people can now be treated successfully. We can do a test on a small patch of your hair and see how it reacts to the treatment.
Yes, laser is most effective if you are already shaved down or waxed.
6-8 treatments is standard. Scheduling them 3-6 weeks apart. Depending on your skin tone, and hair colour this may vary. I will be able to provide you with a more precise estimate during your consultation.
PRE: Shave 12-24 hours before (all treatments). Don't tan for 2-4 weeks prior. Remove all makeup, lotion, and deodorant. Do not wax, thread, or tweeze for 2-4 weeks prior.
You can apply topical anesthetic 1-1.5 hours prior, and then cover with plastic or Saran wrap to prevent oxidization or removal.
POST: Apply aloe vera or a cold compress to the treated area to help reduce redness and swelling. Apply sunscreen to protect against sun exposure for a minimum of 1 week. Don't use tanning beds or expose unprotected skin to sun between treatments.
Be advised that treated hair can take 1-2 weeks to be excreted from the body, and to fall out. Feel free to shave between treatments. Do not wax, thread or tweeze—this will remove the hair follicles, making it impossible to remove the hair with laser. Do not exercise; take hot showers, or use hot tubs or saunas for 12-48 hours.
I treat the full body; chin, face, underarms, face, back, arms, glutes, bikini, brazilian, and legs.
